Dr. Arianna B. Lovati

IRCCS Istituto Ortopedico Galeazzi (Italy, Milan)

Dr. Arianna B. Lovati received her MD in Veterinary Medicine in 2002, and Ph.D. in 2010 at the University of Milan (Italy). She completed an Internship of equine arthroscopy at the Tierklinik (Germany), then at the Cornell University (USA) performing studies on animal mesenchymal stem cells. She collaborated with the University of Genoa and CRABCC S.r.l. working on animal models in orthopaedic and cardiovascular surgery. She currently works as a preclinical researcher at the Cell and Tissue Engineering Laboratory, IRCCS Galeazzi Orthopaedic Institute of Milan.

She works on preclinical models and translational approaches in the musculoskeletal field. In particular, her research is focused on regenerative medicine, osseointegration of prosthetic devices, and implant-related infections in orthopaedics. She has also expertise in physical therapies for musculoskeletal disorders (ESWT, Tecar). She is responsible for technical aspects of biomedicalapproaches along with R&D activities associated with stem cells,biomaterials/scaffolds/prostheses, laboratory and large animal models. From2014 to the present, she works as PI of an Italian Ministry of Health fundedproject focused on the development of decellularized matrices for tendon tissuesubstitution. She works as a consultant for several start-up companies in the fieldof tissue engineering. She is part of the Editorial Board of AIMS Cell and TissueEngineering and Stem Cells International. She has several refereed publications of researches in orthopaedics

Dr. Giuliano Freddi

Silk Biomaterials s.r.l. (Italy, Lomazzo-Como)

Dr. Giuliano Freddi is a project leader in national and international researches. His research interests cover the field of protein polymers, from the study of structure performance relationships to various aspects of industrial processing. His work mostly focuses on silk and keratin polymers and fibres. He has been involved in the development of various chemical approaches, from graft-copolymerization of vinyl monomers to chemical modification with suitable reactants (acid anhydrides, isocyanates, epoxides) to improve functional properties of silk and wool fibres and related materials for both textile and non-textile applications. He is an expert in the characterization of physical, chemical and structural properties of native and chemically modified protein polymers.
He has also been working in the field of biomedical applications of silk proteins, with emphasis on silk fibroin fibres and various regenerated silk fibroin materials, from sponges to gels and nanofibers produced by electrospinning. More recently, he worked on peptides derived from
silk fibroin for bone regeneration to assist the repair of damaged human tissues.
Research achievements in this field cover the development of tissue engineering scaffolds as substitute of ligaments, for the regeneration of root canal therapy and for the substitution of small calibre blood vessels. He has recently undertaken research aiming at exploiting the use of enzymes for surface modification and activation of both natural and synthetic polymers and fibres. With reference to biotech applications in the textile field, the focus is on the substitution of traditional chemical treatments with new ones based on biocatalysis with the aim to develop mild and environmentally friendly processes.

Dr. Zili Sideratou

National Centre for Scientific Research “Demokritos” (Greece, Athens-Aghia Paraskevi)

Dr. Zili Sideratou holds a BSc in Chemistry from the University of Ioannina and a Ph.D. from National Technical University of Athens. She continued her work as a project chemist and then as a senior researcher in Demokritos. Since 2015, she has a Research Director position in Demokritos. Her current research interests focus in: (a) Functionalization, characterization and encapsulation properties of dendritic polymers; prospected applications as controlled release and targeted drug delivery systems as well as novel antibacterial agents. (b) Preparation and characterization of functionalized nanostructured carbon-based materials with dendritic polymers; prospected applications as drug delivery systems as well as antibacterial agents. (c) Preparation and characterization of liposomes and their applications as drug delivery systems. She is co-author in more than 60 publications in peer reviewed journals and co-inventor in 5 international and 7 national patents. During her 20-years research, she has been involved in about 15
European and National research projects. She is the scientific responsible for NCSRD of the SANAD project (FP7-PEOPLE-2012-IAPP).

Dr. Cristin Coman

“Cantacuzino” National Medico-Military Institute for Research and Development (Romania, Bucharest)

Dr. Cristin Coman received his MD in Veterinary Medicine in 1989, and Ph.D. in 2003 at the Veterinary Medicine Faculty of Bucharest. He completed 2 internships on animal facility management at Charles River Company (Hungary) and mouse genetics at Institute Pasteur, Paris (France) and graduated from the FELASA type C course at University of Utrecht (Holland). He has also attended several GMP and GLP courses in Berlin (Germany) and Barcelona (Spain). He currently works as head of experimentation unit and senior researcher at Cantacuzino Institute, Bucharest (Romania). He participates in all research projects that involve animal studies (microbiology and immunology field), and biocompatibility of medical devices. From 2015, he was officially appointed by the competent authority chairman of the National Committee on animal protection used in experimentation. He is a member of the bioethics committees of 2 universities and is an external consultant for 2 institutes. He is part of the Editorial Board of 3 veterinarian Romanian journal.

Carlos E. Nemcovsky

Carlos E. Nemcovsky. Graduated from Dental School in Montevideo, Uruguay in 1979. Post-graduate studies in Periodontology at Tel-Aviv University. Specialist in Periodontology since 1997.

Former-President of the Israel Periodontal and Osseointegration Society.
Author or co-author of over 100 scientific publications (most of them listed in Pubmed. org) in the leading international journals in the fields of Dental Research, Occlusion, Oral Rehabilitation, Periodontology and Dental Implants and chapters in books. Co-editor of books: “Evidence-Based Decision Making in Dentistry. Multidisciplinary Management of the Natural Dentition”. Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2017 and “Endodontic-Periodontal Lesions. Evidence-Based Multidisciplinary Clinical Management” Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2019. Involved in basic and clinical research, with main interest in tissue regeneration. Reviewer and member of the editorial boards for several scientific journals. Well renowned international speaker, with over 120 invited lectures besides numerous presentations at scientific meetings worldwide and continuing education courses in the fields of Periodontology and Dental Implants. Holds a private practice limited to Periodontics and Dental Implants.
